Go San Diego Card has just relaunched with a completely new look and feel. The old site has been totally overhauled with a number of improvements for customers.
The site has a new top navigation bar that allows customers see all of the Go Cards and Explorer Passes offered by Smart Destinations. Previously, each Card had its own distinct site which meant most customers were not even aware they could get Cards in destinations such as Miami, New York, Chicago, Oahu, and Orlando.
In addition customers can learn how the card works, where it is accepted, read reviews by other customers, and see all the additional shopping and dining discounts all from one page.
Images and descriptions have been upgraded, navigation streamlined and improved, and other changes have also been made to the site to help customers plan their trip and get the right Card.
Smart Destinations reports that demand for the company’s attraction passes has not only been strong, but actually accelerating in 2009 as more and more people are looking to travel smarter. The fact that Go Cards and Explorer Passes let people into the top museums, tours, and attractions for a single money saving price makes sense in any economy.
The expectation is the new site will further contribute to continued strong growth. The company was named by inc. Magazine as one of the 500 fastest growing companies and took the top spot among travel related companies.

Treasure Hunt image uploaded by
Looking for something fun to do this Saturday? If you plan on being in San Diego, then join in on the “Whale of a Weekend Treasure Hunt” from 10am to 1pm (presented by environmental artist Wyland and Where You Want To Be Tours). This event is a team building experience that leads participants to discover more about San Diego while providing fun prizes for everyone!
During this exciting adventure, participants will visit top sites in San Diego, learning about what this wonderful area has to offer. However, they will not be going to typical San Diego attractions. The treasure hunt participants will find the “hidden gems” of San Diego, experiencing new areas and uncovering secret knowledge of the area that most people would love to hear and see for themselves.
The treasure hunt will consist of 8-person teams (pre-determined or arranged on-site) with a participation fee of $60 per person, but only $35 with the Go San Diego Card. The winning team will receive unique gifts, DVDs, and area cruises. If your team does not prevail, you still walk away a winner with a free voucher for the Hornblower Harbor Cruise or the Whale Watching Adventure. Make sure to sign up for the event by Friday, April 11th, 10am, or you’ll be sorry you missed out on this fun pirate adventure!

Recycling photo uploaded by
While on vacation, remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Since the 1970s, environmentalists are estimating that we use between 500 billion to a trillion plastic bags annually in the world. They usually find their way to the garbage very quickly, where they contaminate our environment.
Paper bags are equally as wasteful, as they consume high amounts of energy to produce, as well as recycle. Instead of thinking about “paper or plastic,” this Earth Day, take a moment to consider if the bags are really necessary in the first place. Grocery stores like altogether in an effort to reduce waste. Instead, they will be offering reusable bags at a low price.
So, help to take care of our planet and invest in a good canvas bag to carry with you while you travel – you can use this bag to tote beach supplies, carry groceries, or even pick up souvenirs while you are shopping on your trip.

San Diego is blessed with warm, sunny weather year round, but there are a couple of San Diego experiences that are only available during the spring. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites to share with those who are planning trips to San Diego this spring.
- . Each spring, visitors flock to Carlsbad Ranch to admire the vibrant colors and varied blossoms in this 50-plus acre area. Open daily March 1-May 11.
- Celebrate Cinco de Mayo. This annual celebration is a favorite in San Diego. The best place to celebrate is in Old Town, but since May 5 falls on a Monday this year, the fiesta will be on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.
- . San Diego’s Little Italy hosts ArtWalk, an outdoor festival that showcases artwork by over 350 artists. This year’s festival is set for April 26 and 27.
- . This year marks the 63rd year for this horse show, which stretches over three weeks (April 17-May 4, 2008). During the summer, visitors can attend horse races at the Del Mar Racetrack.
- . Scheduled for May 3-4, 2008, this free two-day musical extravaganza features local and national musical acts in genre including folk, celtic, bluegrass, and more.
Is there anything we’ve forgotten? Leave a comment and let us know!

A common misconception about Cinco de Mayo is that it’s Mexican Independence Day; however, that’s actually on September 16. In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is hardly recognized except on the regional level. The date signifies the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla against France in 1862. Californians started Cinco de Mayo in the 1860’s to show their excitement about French resistance in Mexico. It’s since become an unofficial US holiday, and it gives us the chance to celebrate the influence of Mexican culture on our daily lives in the United States.
The best place to enjoy Cinco de Mayo is in Old Town San Diego, an adorable Spanish style neighborhood in heart of the city. Old Town turns into a gigantic (free) street fair for the long weekend. Bring your friends and family, and come early to grab a table on one of the outdoor patios. Handmade fresh tortillas, margaritas, and great music will be available all weekend long. While in Old Town, check out Junipero Serra Museum and the Whaley House Museum.
