She hails from Oil City, Pennsylvania, went to college in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, studied abroad in Norwich, England, and moved to Boston in May of 2007. If you’re never been to a horse show, you’re in luck! returns this month, with the first events (Western Week) beginning on April 17th.
This particular show is one of the most well-respected equestrian shows in Southern California. It consists of three disciplines, Western, Dressage, and Hunter/Jumper, which each showcase the horse and trainer’s spectacular talents.
On April 19th, be sure to check out “Night of the Horse,” which is the highlight of the Western portion of the show. This special event features both horse and human performers, including “Roman Riding” techniques and the $10,000 High Jump Competition.
In San Diego, April’s definitely the month to hop in the saddle and head out to see some great talent and showmanship!

Head over to Crown Point Shores Park at Mission Bay this weekend for the !
Founded in 1973 by the San Diego Rowing Club and and the women’s ZLAC Rowing Club, both century old organizations, this event has become a classic favorite in San Diego. It’s internationally recognized as one of the best regattas in the world, drawing over 3,000 competitors in 87 races.
Admission is only $7 per person and children under 13 along with visitors in the military, police force, and firefighters are free.

Winos unite at the on April 11-12 to enjoy awesome food, delicious wine, and help raise money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Held in Embarcadero Park, spend the day relaxing and making friends in the sun as you taste hundreds of California wines, brews, and gourmet food. There’s even featured entertainment including a live blues band, jazz, and a concert featuring The Grams.

Enjoy the bountiful sunshine of San Diego with a with the whole family!
With over 24 parks in the area, there’s plenty of picnic groves to suit your style. For areas to play, check out Dos Picos in Ramona, El Monte in Lakeside, or Felicita in Encondido. If you’re up for some softball or kickball games, there’s Flinn Springs in El Cajon that boasts of a fantastic ball field.
For camping, there’s also plenty of options! There’s Dos Picos in Ramona, Guajome County Park in Oceanside, or Lake Morena in Campo, which has fantastic fishing opportunities as well.
Bring the kids, the family pet, frisbees, and food and have a fantastic time outside!

On Friday, March 28, head over to the San Diego Museum of Man for , celebrating a night of Peruvian culture, cuisine, and cocktails.
Held on the last Thursday of the month, Tower After Hours runs from 6-8 pm, and aims to “celebrate San Diego’s ethnic diversity by immersing guests in the sights, sounds and tastes of the different countries featured.”
For this particular night, live Andean music will be performed by the musical group Tinku, with dancing presented by the group Peruvian Folklore. Food will be served by the House of Peru and a special cocktail, the Pisco Sour, will delight your tastebuds.

Now that spring has nearly sprung, San Diego is a great place to get out and see some . From the newly reopened Balboa Theatre to the classic Old Globe Theatre, there’s theatrical styles that appeal to everyone.
This spring, check out The Voysey Inheritance at Lamb’s Playhouse Theatre in Coronado, The Tortoise and the Hare at the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre, the world premiere of Stay the Hand at Malashock Dance, or the classic musical A Little Night Music at the Cygnet Theatre.
This summer brings even more wonderful performances with the West Coast premiere of Spring Awakening at the Balboa Theatre, the 2008 Shakespeare Festival at the Old Globe Theatre, Corpus Christi at the Diversionary Theatre (the nation’s 3rd oldest LGBT theatre), and The Night Watcher at the La Jolla Playhouse.

If you’d like to get the most out of your vacation bucks while visiting San Diego, check out SanDiego.com’s
First off, they suggest siteseeing in , home to some of the most beautiful architecture and gardens in the city. Walking around the park for the day is a great way to experience the environment, and if you’re there on a Tuesday, you can even take advantage of free Tuesdays at the museums.
If you’d like to experience historic Dan Diego, take a walk through the and Old Town, all while window shopping and visiting the local art galleries.
For sporty types, you can also hit the beach for the day! If you pack a cooler full of things to lunch or snack on, you’ll save even more. There’s also snorkeling at La Jolla cove, exploring the Ocean Beach tide pools, kayaking in the San Diego Bay, and biking along the Bay in Coronado.

Held at the Ultra Star Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center, the festival features more than you could possibly count, offering something for every kind of movie buff. They’re also conscious of movie-goers of all ages, even offering films for families to enjoy together. Along with showing the best new films from Latino filmmakers, the festival will also feature tributes to classic cinematic wonders with two 1950s Sci-Fi cult films.

Take the whole family on March 15th to for the 28th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade, where you can enjoy everything from kid’s games to live entertainment on two stages. After the festival, be sure and check out all the great museums that the area also has to offer.
On March 16th, also in , the House of Ireland will be hosting Irish dancers from local dance schools for performances and will also be serving traditional Irish fare like soda bread and stew.

Don’t want to see the sights of San Diego from a tour bus? The Los Angeles Times has just published an article entitled focusing on new jogging tours.
City Running Tours are the newest craze in the area, taking their cue from successful tours in New York, Chicago, and Washington D.C. developed by New Yorker Michael Gazaleh. Jennifer Hughes, who runs the San Diego branch, allows customers to set the pace and even personalize their itineraries.
It’s the perfect idea for health conscious travelers, where site seeing and exercise join together to make a memorable vacation.
