Los Angeles of the 1930s comes to life with visits inside world-class buildings such as Grand Central Market, a European-style food hall; the opulent ballrooms of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel; Central Library; Clifton’s Cafeteria, an inspiration for Disneyland; the art deco landmark Edison and Title Guarantee Buildings; and the extraordinary Bradbury Building. Because Downtown Los Angeles also has the largest concentration of historic pre-World War II architecture in America, it is often used as a movie backlot for turn-of-the-century New York or Chicago. Films shot here include “Bladerunner,” “The Sting,” “Ghostbusters,” “Chaplin,” “Pay it Forward,” “Vertigo,” “Arthur,” “48 Hours,” “Spider-Man” and “Terminator 3.”
