Entry with the Go San Diego Card
One of the few institutions in the country devoted to photography, the Museum of Photographic Arts (MoPA) houses more than 9,000 images representing the entire history of the medium, its aesthetic movements, and technological advancements. Since its founding in 1983, MoPA has been devoted to collecting, conserving, and exhibiting the entire spectrum of the photographic medium. The museum’s endeavors consistently address cultural, historical and social issues through exhibitions and public programs. Visitors can see works from the entire history of the medium-daguerreotypes and albumen prints from the 19th century, pictorialism to modernism and contemporary works, and photojournalism by renowned photographers working today. MoPA also presents film from the history of the medium in its state-of-the-art theater. Note: Galleries may be closed for special events. The Go San Diego Card is accepted daily until 5:30 pm; during all other times standard admission will apply.
